동두천시, ‘2023년 벚꽃맞이 야간개장’ 성황리 벚꽃엔딩개화시기에 맞춰 ‘2023년 벚꽃 있는 경기북부 대표 벚꽃 행사’
[김완영 기자 = 동두천] 동두천시 자유수호평화박물관은 지난 4일부터 9일까지 6일간 개최한 「2023년 자유수호평화박물관 벚꽃맞이 야간개장」이 성료했다고 밝혔다.
이번 「자유수호평화박물관 벚꽃맞이 야간개장」은 행사 전부터 SNS·블로그 및 입소문을 통해 약 2,000여 명이 방문하였고, 본 행사 기간까지 누적 약 20,000여 명이 방문하였다. 특히 기후 온난화로 인해 대부분 ‘벚꽃 없는 벚꽃 축제’였던 것에 비해 동두천자유수호평화박물관에서는 개화 시기에 맞춰 행사를 진행해 많은 방문객들의 발길이 이어졌다.
오후 9시까지 연장 개장하는 동안 벚꽃이 만개한 박물관 진입로 야경 감상 및 포토존, 에어바운스 체험시설 등을 운영했으며 박물관 실내에서는 탱크, 헬기 등 VR 체험, 한국전쟁 및 참전 UN 22개국 전시 등 봄의 기운이 느껴지는 다채로운 체험형 볼거리를 제공하였다.
또한 4월 7일부터 8일에는 진입로 부근에서 ‘버스킹 공연’을 개최해 눈길을 끌었다. 2023년 경기아트센터 문화나눔 ‘찾아가는 공연’ 공모에 선정되어 ‘디스앤댓’ 3인조 혼성그룹, 동두천시예술단(시립합창단, 시립이담농악단) 등 전통과 현대가 어우러진 공연으로 박물관을 찾은 방문객들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.
박형덕 시장은 “이번 행사를 통해 코로나19로 침체된 분위기를 벗어나 ‘시민이 힘나는 새로운 동두천’이 되는 계기가 되었다”라고 전하면서 “젊음이 가득한 대표적인 경기북부 벚꽃 행사가 될 수 있도록 앞으로도 아낌없이 지원하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
