[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백시(시장 이상호)는 17일, 시청 소회의실에서 순직산업전사 위령탑 성역화 사업 용역 최종 보고회를 개최하여 다양한 의견을 청휘 하는 시간을 가졌다고 밝혔다. 

보고회에는 이상호 태백시장을 비롯해 김동남 강원도폐광지원과 팀장, 관계 공무원, 황상덕 석탄산업전사 및 성역화추진위원회 수석 위원장, 남해득 석탄산업전사 및 성역화 추진위원회 수석 부위원장, 김경수 부위원장, 박대근 석탄산업전사 및 성역화 추진위원회 처장, 박창규 순직산업전사 유가족 협의회 회장 등 30여 명이 참석했다.

주요내용은 산업전사위령탑을 확장하고 이곳에 탄광역사문화공원 조성을 비롯해 위패안치소 및 봉안실, 탄광역사·문화체험관, 석탄산업 기념관, 위령비, 상징조형물, 석탄문화 가족공원, 테마 산책로, 상징광장 등 시설 설치 여건 분석과 최적규모 선정, 사업의 기본 구상 등이다.

이상호 태백시장은 금일 용역보고회에서 제시된 다양한 의견을 수렴해 용역 확정시 최대한 반영을 약속하였으며 “기 확정된 국비 15억과 강원도, 태백시의 매칭 부분 15억원을 확보하여 총 30억원을 투입해2023년도에 순직산업전사위령탑 성역화사업 실시 설계를 마무리하고 총사업비 425억 원이 투입되는 본공사를 2024년도에 착공해 2025년도에 석탄산업 전사들의 염원인 성역화 사업을 마무리 하도록 하겠다”고 말했다.

또한 “ ‘우리나라 탄광산업 문화유산 도시’ 및 ‘대한민국 산업화의 성지’로 자리매김 할 수 있도록 시에서도 최선을 다해 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

황상덕 성역화 추진위원회 위원장은 “광업을 기반으로 해서 태어난 우리 태백시의 숙원사업 중 가장 핵심이 되는 순직산업전사위령탑 성지화사업을 추진하게 되어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “과거 대한민국 경제발전의 밑거름이 된 순직산업전사에 대한 명예회복과 탄광역사재평가 및 법제화 추진을 위해 성지화사업추진위원회 및 석탄산업 전사들도 열심히 뛰도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
