[김준호 기자 = 평창군]평창군이 교육부가 주최하고, 국가평생교육원에서 주관한 '2022년 제19회 대한민국 평생학습대상'에서 평생학습도시 재지정평가 우수도시로 선정되어 교육부장관 표창을 받았다. 

2013년 평생학습도시로 지정된 평창군은 10년간 괄목할 만한 성과와 평생학습의 많은 성장을 이뤄냈다. 재지정평가는 올해 전국 군단위 44개 평생학습도시를 대상으로 진행됐으며, 지난 2019년부터 2021년 3년간 평생학습 실적에 대해 평가하여 총 5개의 지자체가 우수도시로 선정됐다.

군은 이번 평생학습도시 선정에 힘입어 내년에는 장애인평생학습 프로그램까지 확대하여  내실 있는 학습도시로의 발전을 위한 새로운 성장동력으로 활용할 계획이다.

심재국 평창군수는 “평창군은  선도적 모범학습도시로의 발전과 군민 삶의 질 향상에 힘쓰겠으며, 새로운 아이디어를 도출하여 다양한 경험을 선사하는 등 지속 발전할 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.
