[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 30일 김동근 의정부시장이 ‘제17회 전국장애학생체육대회’에 출전해 우수한 성적을 거둔 선수들을 시장실로 초청해 격려했다고 밝혔다. 

이날 자리에는 대회에서 눈부신 활약을 펼친 선수 전원이 보호자와 함께 참석해 대회 성과에 대한 소회를 밝혔다. 적극적인 지원과 성원을 아끼지 않은 김동근 시장에게 감사의 마음을 전하는 등 시종일관 화기애애한 분위기 속에서 대화가 이뤄졌다.

지난 16일부터 19일까지 울산에서 열린 이번 대회에는 의정부 출신 선수 4명이 경기도 대표로 출전해 수영에서 금메달 5개, 은메달 2개를 육상에서 은메달 1개를 획득하는 쾌거를 이뤘다.
