[서종협 기자 = 평창군] 평창군(군수 심재국)은 5일 군청 대회의실에서 동원육영회 측의 제안으로 심재국 군수와 학교법인 동원육영회 김종철 이사장이 참석한 가운데 교육분야 발전을 위한 협력사업 설명회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

지난해 8월 업무협약 체결 이후 그동안 진행되어 온 협력사업을 살펴보고 향후 진행하게 될 협력사업의 기본계획을 공식적으로 제안하고 이를 설명하기 위하여 마련된 자리이다.

또한, 지난해부터 핵심 협력사업으로 추진하고 있는 한국외국어대학교 연수원 건립을 공식 제안하고 이를 구체화한 마스터플랜을 발표하였으며, 평창군은 이에 화답하고 부지 선정과 관련 행정절차 이행 등 조속한 착공을 위해 적극적인 협력을 약속하였다.

심재국 평창군수는 “평창군과의 협력사업 추진에 많은 관심을 가져주신 김종철 이사장님께 깊이 감사드린다.”라며, “동원육영회와의 협력사업이 조속히 추진된다면 청소년들이 다양한 꿈과 희망을 키우고 나아가 지역발전에 큰 도움을 가져올 수 있는 좋은 기회이므로 군 차원에서 아낌없는 지원과 협조를 약속하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
