[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 북부지방산림청은 정월 대보름을 앞두고 불을 이용한 민속놀이 등 각종 행사로 인해 산불위험이 높을 것으로 예상돼 오는 4일, 5일을 ‘정월 대보름 산불방지 특별대책기간’으로 정하고 산불방지 활동을 강화한다고 밝혔다.

북부지방산림청은 전국적으로 건조한 날씨가 지속되는 가운데 이번 정월 대보름에는 코로나19 일상회복 추세로 달집태우기, 쥐불놀이, 불꽃놀이 등의 야외 행사에 의한 산불발생 위험도가 높을 것으로 예상하고 있다. 

이에 따라, 북부지방산림청은 산불취약 지역(경기·인천 6개 지역) 등에 산불방지 인력 285명을 집중 배치해 지역주민 계도와 야간 산불감시 활동을 강화하고, 산불발생 상황을 대비하여 전 직원 비상근무 및 긴급출동 대기 태세를 한층 더 강화하기로 했다.

한편, 북부지방산림청 조사결과 최근 10년간 정월 대보름에 입산자실화(40%), 소각산불(30%) 등의 원인 순으로 10건 산불이 발생해 관내 산림 0.2ha가 소실되는 피해를 입었다.  

임하수 북부지방산림청장은 “정월 대보름에 유관기관과 공조체계를 더욱 강화하여 산불발생 및 피해를 최소화하는데 총력 대응하겠다”며 “민속놀이로 인해 산불이 발생하지 않도록 지역주민들의 각별한 주의를 당부드린다”고 말했다.
