[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백시(시장 이상호)는 오는 27일부터 31일까지 총 5일간 태백산 국립공원 및 황지연못, 문화광장 일원에서 열리는 제30회 태백산 눈축제의 대표 프로그램인 ‘전국 대학생 눈 조각 경연대회’가 오는 14일 오리엔테이션을 시작으로 참가 대학생들이 작품활동에 돌입하며 축제의 본격 시작을 알린다고 밝혔다. 

전국 대학생 눈 조각 경연대회는 태백산 눈축제의 백미로, 관광객들에게는 볼거리를 제공하여 눈을 즐겁게 하고, 전국 대학생들에게는 예술창작의 기회를, 지역사회에는 축제 관광객 유치와 경제 활성화 도모에 큰 기여를 하고 있다. 

총상금은 2,350만원으로 대상은 문화체육관광부 장관상, 금상은 강원도지사상, 은상은 태백시장상 등이 준비돼 있으며, 시상식은 오는 20일 당골광장에서 열린다. 

태백청년회의소 관계자는 “전국 대학생 눈 조각 경연대회는 태백산 눈축제에서 가장 오래된 역사적인 프로그램으로 참가팀들은 오는 20일까지 작품을 완성해야 하며, 완성된 작품은 독창성, 예술성, 견고성, 성실성, 완성도 등 엄중한 심사를 받을 예정이다”라고 전했다.
