[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 원주지방환경청은 강원도 동해안에 분포된 석호의 가치 및 생태계 보전을 위해 석호에 분포하는 습지식물 190종을 수록한 '강원도 동해안 석호 습지식물도감'을 제작·배포한다고 밝혔다.

 

강원도 동해안에는 18개의 석호가 분포하고 있으며, 자연적인 천이 과정과 주변 지역 개발영향을 거치면서 수면적이 감소하는 등 육화되고 있다.

 

원주지방환경청은 석호의 생태적 가치를 홍보하고 생물다양성 유지를 위한 기초자료로 활용하기 위해 도감을 제작했다. 도감은 석호 식물의 특징이 반영된 사진과 생육에 대한 설명으로 구성되며 한국고유식물인 각시수련, 큰뚝사초와 멸종위기 야생식물인 가시연, 제비붓꽃 등 190종이 수록되어 있다. 

 

'강원도 동해안 석호 습지식물도감'은 강원도 강릉, 속초, 고성, 양양 4개 시·군에 소재한 중·고등학교 43개교와 지자체 등 석호 유관기관 36개소에 무료로 배포된다.

 

김정환 원주지방환경청장은 “강원도 동해안 석호 습지식물도감이 석호 가치를 알리는데 도움이 되기를 바라며, 석호 생태계 보전에 많은 관심을 부탁드린다.”고 말했다.
