[남상훈 기자 = 횡성군] 횡성군은 국가기본도 표기 지명 정비사업의 일환으로 올해 초 설치된 교차로에 대해 명칭을 제정 및 표지판을 신규설치했다고 밝혔다. 

주민참여형 사업으로 진행된 교차로명은 주민의견 수렴을 거쳐 교차로명 후보를 선정했고 최종 선호도 조사를 통해 확정된 21개소의 교차로명을 지명위원회에 상정·의결했다. 

이에 횡성군은 지난 10월 5개소의 교차로 표지판을 설치했으며 11월 중으로 5개소를 추가 설치할 계획이다. 또한 오는 2023년도 미설치된 교차로에 대하여 설치를 완료하고, 횡성군 치안협의회와 연계하여 명칭 없는 교차로에 대해 명칭을 부여하고 교차로 표지판을 설치할 계획이다.

한편, 제정된 교차로명은 횡성군의 정확한 위치정보 시스템 구축을 위한 기초자료로 활용되어 내비게이션 및 위급상황 출동시 원활한 위치찾기를 지원할 예정이다.

신승일 토지재산과장은 “교차로 명칭 정비로 정확한 위치 정보를 제공하여 횡성군민의 불편을 줄이고, 긴급상황에서 차량의 신속한 이동을 통한 군민 안전에도 기여할 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
