[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 태백시는 농산물의 가격변동에 대응하고 농업인의 안정적인 작물생산과 농업경영 안정화를 위해 농산물 최저가격 지원조례를 제정해 공포하고 농산물 최저가격 보장제를 추진한다고 밝혔다.

농산물 최저가격 지원 제도는 품목별 농산물 기준가격을 마련하고 ‘시장가격' 이 '기준가격' 보다 하락했을 경우 그 차액의 일정부분을 보전하는 제도라고 했다.

시는 지난해 11월부터 ‘태백시 농산물 최저가격 지원 조례’ 제정계획을 수립하여 입법예고, 법제심사, 성별영향평가, 의회 간담회 개최, 농업단체의의 청취 등의 과정을 거쳐 지난 8일 조례를 제정해 공포했으며, 오는 5월 중 조례 제정 후속 조치로 농산물 최저가격 지원 및 운영위원회 구성 및 지원품목 선정, 최저가격 결정 등의 절차를 이행할 계획이라고 했다.

태백시 관계자는 “이번 조례가 농업인들이 지속적인 영농을 할 수 있도록 최소한의 보장제도가 될 것" 이라며 "지역 농업의 경쟁력 제고와 농업인의 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다."고 말했다.
