양주로타리클럽 회원들은 이른 새벽부터 나와 배추를 다듬고 김장김치 속에 넣는 양념을 버무리는 작업을 하며 김장김치 60상자를 담갔고, 이날 행사를 통해 담근 김장김치는 옥정종합사회복지관에 30상자, 양주로타리클럽이 추진한 연탄 배달봉사와 주거환경 개선사업의 대상가정으로 수혜를 입은 취약계층 가구에 30상자가 각각 전달됐다고 했다.

윤여흥 회장은 “이웃들이 따뜻한 겨울을 나길 기대하며 정성을 다해 김장을 담갔다”며 “앞으로도 이웃사랑을 실천할 수 있는 활동에 더욱 앞장서겠다”고 전했다.

양주시 관계자는 “추운 겨울을 대비해 김장봉사를 실시하며 지역사회에 따뜻한 정을 느끼게 해주고 꾸준한 봉사활동으로 지역사회의 모범이 되는 양주로타리클럽에 진심으로 감사드린다”며 “앞으로도 취약계층과 소외이웃을 도울 수 있는 활동을 적극 추진할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
