[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시 회천2동은 일회용품 사용 문화 개선과 탄소 중립 실현을 위한 ‘일회용 종이컵 사용 줄이기’ 캠페인을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 캠페인은 코로나19 확산으로 일회용품과 플라스틱의 무분별한 사용 증가가 심각한 환경문제로 부각되는 가운데 행정복지센터에 근무하는 직원들이 앞장서서 일회용품 사용을 줄여 환경을 보호하기 위해 마련했다고 했다.

캠페인을 통해 일상생활 속 일회용품 사용을 최소화하고 환경을 보호하고자 종이컵 대신 개인용 텀블러와 내방객을 위한 다회용 컵을 마련해 직원뿐만 아니라 방문하는 주민들에게 함께 참여를 유도할 예정이라고 전했다.

홍미영 회천2동장은 “직원 모두가 환경문제를 인지하고 환경보호의 생활화가 이루어지길 기대한다”며 “작은 실천을 통해 선한 영향력을 전파할 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 회천2동에서는 ‘재활용 아이스팩 방향제’, ‘재활용품 보상교환사업’ 등 회천2동만의 각종 그린뉴딜 사업으로 지난 9월 경기도 적극행정 우수사례 경진대회에서 우수상을 수여한 바 있다고 밝혔다.
